It is often said that if we dont understand our past we cant build our future. We offer this website that provides you with a detailed history of Rmeich and Lebanon so that you will always be in touch with your roots. Rmeich is a Lebanese village located along the southern borders of Lebanon, in the District of Beint Jbeil. The houses of Rmeich number about 1500, and its inhabitants number approximately 5000 Maronite Christians. The name "Rmeich" comes from the ancient Syriac language Rimshay which is the levelled mount (mountain with a straight top) and Hebrew, Ramishay ‘The mount’, meaning a small mountain. Rmeich and its surroundings are steeped in history. This can be seen from the origin of some of the families who lives there, and the ruins that can still be seen in its surroundings. We welcome any suggestions that can help us improve this website. This can be done from the contact us page. |
